Hey all! We've been getting some requests for this, so the Stanford Alpine Club is hosting a Climbing Rescue Class! This Level 1 rescue skills course is for single-pitch top rope scenarios where the belayer is at the base of the climb. Skills will include friction hitches, how to tie off a belay device to go hands-free, weighted and unweighted belay takeovers, and a weighted belay takeover with a counter-ascend pick-off of a stuck climber. This class will give you the basic training to handle unexpected rescues on your climbing adventures and is a valuable part of any climber’s toolkit.

Pre-requisites: Top-rope belay certified at the Stanford Climbing Wall with at least 1 year belay experience. Additional experience with belaying with a Grigri style belay device highly preferred.

Time and Place: 4 hours at the Stanford Climbing wall (AOERC) - Saturday February 2nd 8:30am - 12:30pm

Cost: $50/person General Public, $10/person Stanford Alpine Club Member or Stanford Graduate Student (Max 24 attendees)

Sign up here starting 8AM on 1/31: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/sac-self-rescue-course-tickets-55615561642

Hope to see some of you there!
