This trip is an informal, NOT instructional trip. For those who don't know about Smith, it has been called the birthplace of modern sport climbing, although there is some trad and also some multipitch as well. The camping is super mellow, and right now the weather looks just about perfect - in the upper 60s to lower 70s and sunny every day. (Check it at: http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast? query=redmond%2C+or ) The drive is similar to Jtree in terms of length, so to make it worth the drive we're looking at leaving on thursday afternoon, climbing friday, saturday, sunday, and monday, and then either leaving monday night or climbing for half of tuesday and getting back here tuesday not too late. If you are interested in coming along, throw Chris and I an e-mail and we'll coordinate rides and such. Just to make this totally clear - we're not going to arrange partners/provide gear/teach climbing, etc. If you come you should be competent to be climbing on your own with your partner. In reality we'll probably end up all going to similar places and climbing eachother's TRs and such, but that's my disclaimer. Bomber, -Matt
