Welcome to sport lead climbing! Learn how to set up your own top-ropes on bolted routes and take a step toward climbing leadership! SAC is offering learning to sport lead class on Saturday April 19th, all day at Pinnacles National Monument, with a classroom session set for Thursday April 17th at 7:00. This class is geared toward individuals who have taken the Learning to Lead class at the Stanford Climbing Wall, or have done some leading (indoor or out) but are not yet confident with your skills. Some topics we are likely to cover/review will be: -Clipping techniques, how to get the rope in the 'biner with speed and style -How to avoid back-clipping and z-clipping -Setting a basic 2 bolt anchor -Different types of bolt hangers/chains you may encounter outdoors -Proper communication techniques between climbers and belayers -How to safely top belay and manage rope -How to belay for a lead climber The cost is $15 for non Alpine Club members and $10 for members. This does not include gas ($5-10) or food, which you should bring for yourself.
