That's a deal! > Let me know if there is something you think I should figure out for > you guys when it comes to camping sites etcetera. Sure, can you check the camping situation? I'm pretty sure the Newspaper Rock sites (where we camped last fall) are all closed now. [edit: signs were up in April at each site saying they were closed, but it was not enforced at that time. It may be enforced now.] The Bridger Jacks camping area seems to be the popular spot, but the road in is a bit rough in places. Last year at one point the river crossing there was impassable to anything but 4wd vehicles after a storm, so this might not be the ideal place to camp since not everyone has off-road capable vehicles (me in particular...). I'm expecting this area to be packed. There's supposed to be camping in the cottonwoods down the Beef Basin road (between Sparks and Pistol Whipped), but I've heard rumors that that may be unofficial and/or closed. [edit: probably open, but there is another creek just before the Cottonwoods site which had to be forded in the spring] There's at least one camping area, maybe more, further up the main road towards Canynands, but I've not been there. It's supposed to be treeless and so maybe a bit sunny and windy. The guidebook also shows an area called Superbowl, on the left (west) side of the road before the road to North Six Shooter. Does that exist? [edit: Indian Creek Falls area is an option off the road to Lockhart Basin] map: http://www.stanford.edu/~clint/ic/lock200a.gif As to who/when, the current situation as I know it is: Team Sweden (Par + others) Established in luxury accommodations in Monticello, there for the whole month. Marshall, Colin, Matt Flying from the Bay Area to SLC. Climbing Thursday-Sunday. Amy, Mark, Matthew, Alex N, others? + Kara Driving from Albuquerque. Climbing Thursday-Sunday. Clint, Erika Driving from the Bay Area. Climbing Friday through the whole of the next week (19th-29th approx). [edit:] Darko Driving from Boulder. Arriving early evening of 19th, staying for 2-4 days. Alex C, Mike I'm driving out from the Bay Area, Mike is driving from Albuquerque. We're going to meet in Hanksville, UT on the 13th and go explore the Henry Mountains before heading over to IC. We'll climb at the Henry Mountains through Sunday/Monday, depending on how we like what we find. We may then hit some towers on the way to IC. Hristo, Ken Plans still being finalized, but if all goes well they will drive from LA and meet up with Alex C somewhere in Utah on the 12th and head to the Henry Mountains then on to IC. Kate, Ryan Not sure what you guys are up to, let us know :) [edit: Brian Cox is interested - would fly to SLC if he decides to go] [edit: Bryan Palmintier is interested; does not have a car and is looking into transport options] So it looks like Mike and I (+Hristo and Ken) will likely be the first campers to reach IC. We'll try to locate a suitable camping spot that will fit everyone and post a note about that. [edit: will post a note on the bulletin board at the main parking lot which is between Supercrack Buttress and Donnelly Canyon/Battle of the Bulge. Not the bulletin board at the small pullout 200' further south. Should also post at the bulletin board at the turnoff for Beef Basin/ Bridger Jacks.] Par, if you see a suitable notice board where we can post some notes, please let us know. Only one week to go! Looking forward to seeing everyone! Alexander
